Estarl Scholarship
RULES FOR ESTARL AWARDS
A PROSPECTIVE APPLICANT SHOULD ORDER AN APPLICATION PACKET FROM THE AWARDS CHAIRMAN EARLY TO SEE IF HE OR SHE IS ELIGIBLE AND TO HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO ASSEMBLE THIS INFORMATION.
- Applicant must be an Oregon resident with a permanent home residence in Oregon.
- Academic records should be submitted for prior college years, including the last semester or quarter completed.
- Aid is offered to students in college or for subsequent studies.
- A statement should be secured from a denominational leader who can describe the applicant’s relationship or prospect for full time church vocation, together with area for future church service.
- The official seal of an Eastern Star Chapter or Masonic Lodge MUST BE IMPRINTED on the application. If applicant is sponsored by a member only, it is also required that the Seal of the Eastern Star Chapter or Masonic Lodge must be secured through the Secretary of the Chapter or Lodge.
- The applicant must attend a school accredited by a regional accrediting association. Professional schools are accredited by organizations such as: Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges, American Association of Schools of Religious Education, American Association of Theological Schools, National Association of Schools of Music, etc.
A STATEMENT SHOWING ACCREDITATION OF THE SCHOOL THE APPLICANT WISHES TO ATTEND MUST ACCOMPANY THE APPLICATION. THIS MUST COME FROM THE SCHOOL.
- Anyone who is not morally suitable for membership in the Order of Eastern Star or anyone currently under supervision of the judicial system is not eligible to receive financial benefits of an ESTARL Scholarship from the Grand Chapter of Oregon.
- Application may be submitted to the chairman of the ESTARL AWARDS COMMITTEE anytime after February 1st. THE DEADLINE IS APRIL 1, 2009 for renewal or for new applications.
The applicant should use the checklist enclosed in the packet to determine that he or she has all the material required and send the application, letters of recommendation, the accreditation from the school, personal letters and financial statement in one (1) envelope to:

Attached to this memo are the instructions and applications forms for those seeking a
Scholarship from the Leslie S. Parker Memorial Fund.
Please note several items which have changed:
- The applications are available either from the Chairperson, or the Oregon Eastern
Star Web Site (www.oregonoes.org).
- The deadline to receive the application and associated recommendations is April
15th this year.
- A formal recommendation by an Eastern Star Chapter is NOT required for this
Scholarship.
